I thank you Patience, with all that I am, for enlightening me as to how to speak, interact, accept and even love my vet. The journey I am on with him right now would have been far more difficult without your knowledge. Thank you again!

I enjoyed talking with you, and note with interest your publications. I need to know more about PTSD, particularly as I reach out to vets. I hope we will be able to continue our conversation.

Thank you so much for using your considerable talent to benefit so many. Your articles are a godsend for survivors, their families, and for therapists who try to help. Translating so much clinical jargon into emotionally compelling, useful language is a daunting task, and you've done it over and over again!

What an eye opener "Recovery from the War" provides! I was just a child at the time, and my vet is a bit older than me...but your book helped me to really understand all the stigma's! I wish I could say the VA and local Vet Center was helpful, but they were quite the opposite for us... Private help has been much better. Your book was so enlightening to me that I am getting additional copies to send to other family to help them understand and begin recovery. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and thank you to all vets for your service! If only there were no wars and only love, the world would be a better place...

I have been researching information on your husband's book Chickenhawk since I decided to do a small project on him as part of my counseling course. I remembered being touched by his book when I read it years ago and on the powerful effects of PTSD. So I chose PTSD as my study. I did not know that you had become involved in this arena, as counselling studies are new to me. I will be reading his second Chickenhawk book as part of my background studies. Blessings to you both. Ian

I don't know how to proceed. The V.A.turned me down on my last claim in 2003. With "Will not be reopened without new and substanial." Your 30% s.c.condition (since 1974 remains)I filed for ptsd, right leg (Army med records show car wreck 3/71 injuring right leg and subs treatment)stomach, head,ne ck probs(car wreck3/71 treatment shown). As I said they were all denied. The funny thing starting in 74 when after my last surgery for my s.c.leg with my VAH discharge records it showed 30% service connected WITH 5 0% SERVICE CONNECTEDS for the very disabilities I claimed in 2000 that were denied in 2003.I have those records missing a few years due to our house fire in 2002 up to my last VAH visit in 2005 that plainly show 1 at 30% s.c.5 at 0% s.c. I had to go back to the VAH in March. They didn't operate just got my heart problem straightened out. When I was discharged in late March my 5 0% s.c.were off the discharge paper just my 30% s.c.was listed. I been screwed ya'll.HELP

Admin reply: I can't help but you should get a service officer to help you. VVA, PAV, DAV, VFW, or the American Legion.
Recently there have been studies that link heart disease to PTSD, so you could also get them to check into that or google it yourself and supply them with the information.

Your book was like a bible to me for some time when I first married my Vietnam veteran husband. I love him so much and I thank you for helping me understand him better.
